Well made This was a Christmas present for my Dad. I don;t normally eat grapefruits- I juice them. But he’s a bit old school and likes his sliced in half then eating out all the “pockets”. I hadn’t realized just how hard it is to find a grapefruit knife anymore – nearly everyone has stopped carrying them in my area. I was really glad I found this on Amazon. The blade is sturdy, stainless steel. It’s not very sharp, but then it’s not supposed to be! The serrated edge is supposed to saw the meat of the grapefruit out, not so much cut it. And this knife does an excellent job of that. The real selling point of this knife, though, was the rubber handle. It may not be actual rubber, but is sure is easy to keep a grip on the knife while using it. The shape allows a good deal of control as well, as you have the angle and turn the knife of the pocket corners. The kniofe is very well made and does and excellent job. My Dad is very happy with it.

Great Grapefruit Knife… I decided to go for this knife because I wanted something sturdier than you’d find in the “baking” aisle of your local supermarket. This definitely fits the bill. It is solid and really does a number on grapefruit. Probably the best grapefruit knife I’ve ever had (not that I’ve had alot, but it blows away the ones I grew up with and the ones I’ve had prior to it).

Richard H. Eichner says:

Good but needs a little work I purchased this knife a few weeks ago.The quality is adequate and the factory serrated edge sufficient for the job. The handle is large, comfortable and non-slippery. The only drawback keeping me from giving it five stars is that the curve of the blade is incorrect for the softball size grapefruit my tree bears. This issue is resolvable by a little kitchen blacksmithing using a soup can or the like as a mandrile to reshape the curve of the blade to a radius more suitable to the size fruit available in your market. When you get that right after a bit of trial and error the knife does an admirable job worthy of five stars.
